Mike Craig began his professional career 19 years ago in telecommunications, with a goal of being an expert in all facets of the industry. Stops along this journey included Senior National positions – Sales and Marketing, McCaw Communications, Sprint Corporation and Intermedia Communications. While on this path Mike also understood the benefits of entrepreneurism, the role it would play in his life, as well as the importance and positive affect it would have on the lives of others. After learning the power of “leverage” he became a student of the Network Marketing industry, honed his skills and education through active involvement with many leaders in the market segment including companies such as Meleluka, Quorum, American Communications Network (ACN) and Tahitian Noni International.
He sharpened his industry acumen with these major telecommunications concerns, and in 1997, teamed up with Theodore “Ted” Turner, IV (son of media mogul Ted Turner) and Jim Palmer (co-founder of Sky-Tel Communications, Inc. NASDAQ (SKTL). As equity partner and co-founder, Mike served as Executive Vice President – Sales and Marketing of LocalNet Communications, Inc. / E.TV, through strategic mergers and acquisitions the company ultimately came to be known as MyTurn.com NASDAQ (MYTN). He quickly began contributing through the creation of sales materials, leading new product/technology development, and negotiating strategic alliances with telecom providers. In addition to championing the design and implementation of the company’s industry product and sales / marketing training program, he was in charge of Regional and National Event Training, educating representatives around the country. Mike’s entrepreneurial spirit and motivational, goal-oriented approach has earned him wide-ranging industry respect within the company and across the nation.
As a result he was selected to chair and facilitated the “ Presidential Advisory Board”, a regularly scheduled roundtable discussion comprising company executives, shareholders and top producers sharing ideas affecting the business.
His ambition, drive, industry knowledge, willingness to help customers and colleagues achieve their goals and dreams highlight Mike’s successful career. So much that Mike sacrificed his high level position for a new challenge… to enter the field as an independent business owner and sales consultant. It was in this capacity that Mike truly felt he needed to venture in order to round out his business development experience. How else could he fully integrate the sales and marketing process of a start-up business to include budgeting, training, and evaluation to truly lead others in their efforts without this final piece of the pie?
The success didn’t stop there. Mike assembled, developed and trained a successful sales organization of over 25,000 distributors worldwide. Within a year his business represented 90% of the company revenue. Mike was soon asked to serve on the “ Presidential Advisory Board”, not as EVP, Sales and Marketing, but as one of the company’s highest revenue generating producers.
Never one to rest on his accomplishments, Mike chose to take advantage of the Internet “.com” opportunity by utilizing his skills in coordinating win-win strategic partnerships resulting in profitable contracts with 4 million registered users.
In October 2008, Mike was asked to serve as Vice President of Sales for Visalus Sciences, a Health and Wellness focused direct sales company with corporate offices in Troy, Michigan and Los Angeles, California. Offering a diverse line of quality nutritional supplements, energy drinks, and weight management solutions, the ViSalus community of customers and distributors stretches from coast to coast as the company prepares for International expansion. The name “ViSalus” represents the three pillars of the company’s core mission: Life, Health and Prosperity. The ViSalus community is able to create lasting life memories through reward trips and personal development opportunities. ViSalus promotes better health through its line of health and wellness products. And, finally, ViSalus seeks to improve the prosperity of others through providing direct selling opportunities, teaching entrepreneurship principles, and reinforcing the need to give back and make an impact on the people and causes we care about most.
Within 2 years the opportunity presented itself for Mike to resign his corporate VP role with the company to enter the field as a distributor to train and mentor a team of entrepreneurs’ and to fulfill his true passion of educating the masses on the topic of entrepreneurship. In less than 35 days Mike was able to assemble a team that spanned North America and achieved the highest rank within the company. More importantly he had played an integral role in helping many new entrepreneurs launch their own successful careers.
In summary, these achievements underscore Mike’s ability to lead, manage, and produce; to develop highly motivated business people and the support required to help them succeed; to earn him the respect of his peers, associates and clients.
